Now we are disconnected from the living Universe, dislocated from the Greater Nature, and also disconnected from our fellow humans,

connected instead to computers, TVs, MP3 ...

connected to the supermarket’s – MacDonalds plastic food ...

“where does the milk come from ?”

“it grows in the supermarkets”

will say our robot- children ( maybe already say..)

we are connected to this “robot- life”

ceaselessly stressful in a race rush ... home - travel - work - TV -  sleep...

on the 8th floor of a dead building

no stopping.. no thinking... always more money to buy the latest TV...

to buy more material objects that don't even make us more happy !

where is the life in that?

is LIFE really THAT ?

we could continue painting a black picture of the world for pages and pages..

but it would eventually blacken our minds and hearts too !

 

THERE ARE BETTER THINGS TO DO !!

then this project is for you, for us, for our children

this project is for those who wish to find (again )

a simple and true life

a life of sharing, exchange and mutual aid,

a life with total respect for the whole environment

a life where life’s pulsation is can be felt

 

this project started in Turkey the country of Mevlana

the Whirling Dervish’s country,

 

the country of the fantastic poet troubadour Sufi Yunus Emre,

country of those lovers of the Universe

 

Lovers of Life

So what is it ?

 

One hour north of Antalya –  southern Turkey, Mediterranean sea – in  the village of Camlik, two big fields surrounded by forest, near the mountains and lakes.

 

This land is ready ..

22 small baby trees already planting their roots in the soil,

a very basic yet friendly camp with Turkish nomad tents allows us to have nice days and spend nights under the stars and moon,

the neighbors are so nice sweet generous and warm hearted that they will quickly become your friends

 

so we are at the very beginning ... and there is a LOT of work to do !!

 

It will be

a human adventure

a shared adventure

An adventure through which we may work with our hands and heads

and express what is in our hearts

We hope that the place will enrich our bodies, minds and souls

for the time being our team is very small

but very confident, full of courage and ideas,

 

This project is a common project for all of us who believe in

Antalya 7 october 2008

                    

after 3 months of difficult preparations due to hard cold rainy weather where thunderstorms and wind would put down everything we were trying to put up ... eventually on the 17th march , all the participants to the Permaculture Design Course arrived on Yunus Emre Field ...... Aslıhan .. Maral .. Sayat .. Emel .. Ufuk .. Ferit .. Alev .. Ahmed .. Atila .. Cetin .. Florian ... Melda .. Ozer .. Gizem .. me .. and Steve our teacher ...

on this sunny day the journey started .. and i guess none of us would imagine at this stage how wonderful and incredible this journey would be ...

from the very first evening with nice dinner prepared by Cetin all people were already close together talking around a table in the warm “nomad turkish tent” ...

and the next morning the program started with  yoga practices followed by nice breakfast and our first permaculture class ...

and from there ... the journey continued .. all together carried by the skills of Steve guiding us with his knowledge , experience, care and love ... sharing with us his vision of a new world where permaculture can definitely bring to ALL abundance and happiness ...

and although rain came back sometimes flooding the tents .. .. although wind again tried to undo our tents ... although  our basic showers could hardly supply us with nice hot water ... although we had actually most of the time to walk in the mud with our rain boots and coats .. ... we experienced an unforgettable time all together both learning from Steve who was always available and patient.. giving giving giving ... and putting right away into practice what we were learning on the field of the farm ...

like this we could build a dry toilet ... enhance the showers ... install a simple electric system .. start a vegetable garden ... and most of all plant trees ... ... with the techniques of “swales” “contours” “pans” and so on that we just learnt ..

on the 21st march evening we celebrated ... around a big fire ( havan) chanting the  healing Maha Mrityunjaya mantra ... we celebrated Spring coming ... Equinoxe time .. and sent the powerful vibrations of the Maha mrityunjaya mantra all around the planet to all people who need love and care and healing at all levels ...

and the culmination of the course has been the presentation of the designs completed by the team organised in 3 groups ...

thus the farm received the precious gift of having 3 permaculture design projects which all are rich and interesting and which all will greatly help to start the farm in the good manner and in the proper direction

now each of us has gone back home .. yet Steve has so magnifically managed to create closeness between us and the whole permaculture network that we keep all connected and we already met again in Istanbul !! ...

Istanbul 5  days with Filiz Andrew as organisers ...where Steve continues to teach and spread the visions and tools of permaculture in and around Istanbul .. from city to gardens .. from yoga places to universities ...giving also interrview to Acik radio with Melda, and Maral - Sayat playing their divine music... touching like this with his love and knowledge more than 100 people ... who .. again ... will also keep in touch with the whole network ...

Steve has been so enthusiastic about Turkey , Turkish people and atmosphere , and the potential that exists in Turkey to build a better world .. that he will come again in autumn .. planning to

give another 10 days PmC Design Course in Imece evi ( www.imeceevi.com)  

travel around Turkey with his family to come closer to people

and we hope he will also come again to Yunus Emre Farm for another 10 days Design Course in March 2010 (see coming events )
